Aeration

Best done during your lawn’s peak growing season. For warm-season grasses, this means early to mid-summer. For cool-season grasses, aeration is best saved for fall but can be repeated in spring if the soil is extremely compacted. Wait until your lawn has been mowed 2-3 times in the season, so you’ll be sure it is growing fast enough to recover from the aeration.

Beds Edged, Mulched & Weeded

Keep your garden beds looking their best by keeping them edged, mulched and weeded.

Dethatching

Best done during peak growing season, right before aerating.

Fertilizer Programs

Our well balanced fertilizer program ensures that the proper nutrients are available in the soil.

Gardens Rototilling

An easy way to distribute your fertilizer or turn up soil before planting begins.

Hedge Trimming

Maintaining landscape features, like hedges, will help ensure that they stay strong and healthy for your enjoyment over many seasons.

Insect control

Spring is a good time to address problems with fire ants. Many other insects, such as grubs and mole crickets, may also cause damage to your lawn in spring but are more effectively controlled later in the summer.

Lawn Core Aerating

When you aerate your lawn, you punch holes in the soil. These holes allow more air and water circulation around your lawn's roots, preventing fungal invasions, and they encourage the growth of healthy microorganisms in the soil. These microorganisms eat lawn thatch, a layer of dead bits of grass on top of the soil that can choke out your lawn. Aeration also makes it easier for your lawn to grow stronger, deeper roots. A good root system is essential for your lawn's survival in times of drought.

Lawn Thatching

Thatch is the accumulation of grass stems and roots forming just above the surface of the soil. A normal part of every lawn, thatch is not a problem until it is about half an inch thick. At that point, it is preventing water from reaching the deep roots in the soil, and can block sunlight from the grass below it. Both conditions can lead to withered and brown grass. In addition, grass roots can begin to grow into the thatch rather than the soil underneath it. This prevents grass from receiving the nutrients it needs, and the result brown grass.

Mowing

Begin mowing as soon as your lawn needs it – grass blades do best when you cut no more than a third of the blade’s length at a time.

Perennial Gardens

Provide yourself with enjoyment, beauty, and color for years to come.

Plowing

Keep areas clear and safe during the snowier seasons.

Shrubs & Flowers Planting

Often referred to as softscape, flowers, plants, shrubs, flower beds, etc soften the landscape design.

Stone and Gravel Driveway

Stone and gravel driveways not only make areas drive-able, but also divert water to avoid disturbance in lawns.

Tree Planting

Trees can also reduce your heating and cooling costs, help clean the air, add beauty and color, provide shelter from the wind and the sun, and add value to your home or business. Mending Wall Lawn Care/Landscaping assist you in choosing the right tree for your property and planting it properly.

Watering

Once your grass starts growing, you’ll need to make sure your lawn gets at least 1” of water per week. Until then, you can water less frequently but remember that cold air is very drying to plants and lawns.
